This site (neilwsmith.com) is operated by Hale & Wise LLC, a California limited liability company, and is the author site of Neil W. Smith. It is designed to collect as little information as possible. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Mailing list. If you join the mailing list, you provide your name and email address so we can send you occasional updates, a sample chapter, or the guide you requested. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

The Drift Diagnostic. If you take the Drift Diagnostic (a free self-reflection quiz), your answers are scored in your browser. If you then choose to receive your full result by email, we collect your email address together with your result so we can send it to you and suggest relevant books, workshops, or events. We store the minimum needed for that purpose. Quiz answers and results are never shared with or sold to advertising platforms.

Automatic information. Like most websites, our hosting provider processes standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to serve pages securely.

Third parties we share data with

Information you submit is processed by the service providers that run this site’s infrastructure: our hosting provider (Vercel), our form and email/CRM providers, and — if you buy a book — the retailer you purchase from (such as Amazon), under their own privacy terms. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Cookies, analytics, and tracking

The site may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand general traffic patterns. We do not permit third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your activity over time and across different websites through this site. Some embedded content (such as YouTube videos) is served by third parties whose own cookies and privacy terms apply when you interact with it.

Do Not Track

Because we do not track visitors across third-party websites, this site does not respond differently to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

Your choices

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information you have shared — including your Drift Diagnostic result — by contacting info@neilwsmith.com. We honor reasonable requests promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note the change in our next email to the mailing list.
